46 nominations for SHC's vacant judge position

The matter of appointing judges for vacant positions in the Sindh High Court (SHC) is under consideration, with 46 names proposed for 12 additional judge positions. The secretary of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has forwarded these names to commission members for review.

Among the 46 nominees, six are district and sessions judges, while the remaining 40 are lawyers. The JCP's meeting to discuss these appointments is scheduled for January 23, and will take place at the Supreme Court's principal seat in Islamabad.

The six district and sessions judges proposed include Suresh Kumar, Khalid Hussain Shahani, Mushtaq Ahmed Laghari, Tasneem Sultana, Munawar Sultana and Ameer Ali Mahesar.

The 40 lawyers nominated include Ali Haider Ada, Nisar Ahmed Bhambro, Riazat Ali Sahir, Meeran Muhammad Shah, Raja Jawad Ali Sehar, Ubaidur Rahman Khan, Rafiq Ahmed Kalwar, Umaima Anwar Khan, Muhammad Usman Ali Hadi, Muhammad Umar Lakhani and Mansoor Ali Ghanghro.

The list also includes names of Muhammad Zeeshan Abdullah, Muhammad Jafar Raza, Zulfiqar Ali Solangi, Haq Nawaz Talpur, Abdul Hameed Bharghari, Dr Syed Fayazul Hassan Shah, Mohsin Qadir Shahwani, Qazi Muhammad Bashir, Sandeep Malani and Muhammad Hassan Akbar.

Further nominees among lawyers include Syed Ahmed Shah, Imdad Ali Onar, Chaudhry Atif Rafiq, Jamshed Malik, Irfan Mir Helpoto, Jan Ali Junejo and Wali Muhammad Khoso.
