GUJRANWALA:

Two daughters have been accused of binding their father with ropes and setting him ablaze, resulting in his death from severe burn injuries.

The incident occurred in the Mughal Chowk area of Gujranwala, under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Ali Akbar, was a father of 12 children and had been married three times.

His first wife had passed away and he was living in a rented home with his two surviving wives and children at the time of the incident.

According to police reports, the daughters - 16-year-old Anum and 12-year-old Yashfa - allegedly confessed to the crime while in custody.

They claimed that their father had sexually assaulted them, which drove them to take this extreme measure.

The girls reportedly doused their father with petrol while he was sleeping and ignited the flames.

Following the incident, police registered a case against both daughters and also included Ali Akbar's two wives as co-accused.

The police are currently conducting further investigations and have stated that medical examinations will be carried out on the accused daughters to gather more evidence regarding their claims.

The victim's sisters, Balqis Bibi and Fareeda, expressed disbelief at the allegations against their brother.

In an interview with Express News, they stated that Ali Akbar had intended to arrange a marriage for one of his daughters with his nephew after the death of their sister in Faisalabad. They claimed that both wives opposed this arrangement, leading to tensions within the family.

The sisters stated that after setting their brother on fire and taking him to the hospital, they claimed he had been burned by a heater.

This misrepresentation initially allowed them to avoid legal action.
