Girl Scout cookie prices are going up in 2025, and two popular flavors—S’mores and Toast-Yay!—will be discontinued after the current cookie season, according to the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).
For the Northeast Texas council, which covers 32 counties including Dallas and Collin, core cookies like Thin Mints and Samoas will cost $6 per box, while specialty cookies such as Toffee-tastic and S’mores will sell for $7. This marks a $1 increase from 2024 prices, which last rose in 2020.
In-person sales for the region begin on Friday and will run until March 2. Nationwide, the 2025 cookie season will bid farewell to Toast-Yay!, a French toast-inspired cookie, and S’mores, which debuted in 2017.
The price increase comes as GSUSA and local councils face financial challenges. While cookie sales support local troop activities and programs, GSUSA only receives a licensing fee from cookie manufacturers. The organization has also increased annual membership dues from $25 in 2024 to $45 in 2025, with plans to reach $65 by 2027 to address operating losses projected at $5.6 million.
The GSUSA states that cookie prices reflect “fair market value” and are in line with inflation trends, with food prices having risen 28% since 2019. Despite the higher costs, Girl Scouts can earn rewards like trips and free membership renewals for meeting sales goals. To ease the impact of rising dues, GSUSA is offering scholarships and financial assistance through local councils.
