RAWALPINDI:
Heads of the narcotics control departments of Pakistan and India on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly work to curb the trade of narcotics to and from the two countries.
The MoU demand reduction and prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotics drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor chemicals and related matters was signed at the Eighth Director General Level Talks between Pakistan and India. The detailed discussions were held for two days at the headquarters of the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Rawalpindi.
The Pakistani delegation was led by ANF Deputy General (DG) Maj Gen Syed Shakeel Hussain while Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) DG Shri OPS Malik led the Indian side.
Both sides expressed concerns over the growing menace of narcotic drugs. The existing cooperation and information sharing between the ANF and NCB was noted as ‘satisfactory’, according to the official press release.
It was agreed to enhance mutual cooperation through effective and sustained steps to control drug trafficking across the region. Both sides agreed to continue sharing ‘actionable intelligence’ and adopt a coordinated strategy to prevent cross-border drug trafficking.

A lot of drugs produced in illegal drugs produced in Pakistan, particularly in the tribal areas use smuggled Indian chemicals.The signed MOU should ask India to curb this smuggling as easy availabililty of have made thousands of drug addicts in the country .
