Visit: Indian delegation calls on IHC Chief Justice

Discussed matters of mutual interest focusing on the common legal practices in both countries.

A 13-member delegation of All India Bar Association (AIBA) called on Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman at the IHC premises here on Tuesday.


The delegation, led by AIBA Vice-Chairman Partap Singh and Legal Cell Akalidal President Harpreet Singh, discussed matters of mutual interest with their Pakistani counterparts, focusing on the common legal practices in both countries.

The AIBA vice-chairman briefed the IHC chief justice about the judicial system and procedure of judge’s selection and elevation in India. He invited the President IHC Bar Association (IHCBA) Chaudhry Ashraf Gujjar and IHC judges to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations to mark the promulgation of 1961 Advocate Act in Chandigarh.

IHC Chief Justice informed the delegates that IHC comprised seven judges and was established under the Act of Parliament, but presently there are three judges working at the court, while the vacancies are expected to be filled soon.
