The Constitutional Bench (CB) of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday disposed of a petition filed on behalf of former president Arif Alvi seeking protection from arrest.
The bench issued the decision after the provincial police chief submitted details of cases against Alvi, who belongs to the embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The bench took up the petition and reviewed the case details provided by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the prosecutor general. According to the IG Sindh Police's report, a case registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act is pending against Alvi. This case, registered by the Civil Lines police in 2018, predates Alvi's tenure as President of Pakistan.
