Majlis-e-Wahdate Muslimeen (MWM) leader Allama Hasan Zafar Naqvi has said that the sit-ins are peaceful and do not represent political groups. The Sindh government should not make us fodder for political gain. We will end the sit-ins if the people of Parachinar do. He expressed these views in an emergency press conference at the Numaish Chowrangi sit-in.
Speaking at the presser, Allama Naqvi said that MWM realises the trouble caused to the citizens, that is why there is no full call for the sit-in yet. If a call for sit-ins is given across Sindh, the government will not be able to stop it, he said, warning the authorities not to put undue pressure on the Jafariya community. He said that the community will not tolerate anyone's dictatorship, and the protest sit-ins will continue.
Naqvi said that they have been sitting at the Numaish Chowrangi sit-in for six days, and the sit-ins are peaceful and free from sectarianism, where people of all faiths and religions are coming to express solidarity. "We have no demands for negotiations; if the people of Parachinar end their sit-in, so will we.
The protests have been held on the appeal of Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and will end upon his call. All organisations of Jaffariya community are participating in the protests."
Naqvi further said that all the sit-ins going on in the city are peaceful, raising voice for the basic problems in Parachinar. He lamented that basic supplies in the troubled region cannot be met with helicopters, as the areas hots a population of 500,000. He said that it is not a sit-in of any party, it is a sit-in of the oppressed, where everyone is participating, including Ahle Sunnat communities, who have set up water camps for the demonstrators.
