Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif celebrated the Pakistan Muslim League’s (PML) Foundation Day on Monday, crediting the party’s contributions to Pakistan’s development over the past three decades under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.
In a statement, Shehbaz said, “The All-India Muslim League, led by Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement, paved the way for the creation of an independent Pakistan.” He highlighted the role of the party, established 118 years ago, in fulfilling the aspiration of a free homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent.
The prime minister called on citizens to uphold the vision of Pakistan’s founders by working collectively for national progress. “Under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N has been at the forefront of Pakistan’s development for the last 35 years,” he said.
PM emphasised the party’s commitment to principled politics and public welfare. “History bears witness that Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N prioritised the nation’s security and economy over political gains. They sacrificed their politics to protect Pakistan,” he added.
He also praised party workers and leaders for their unwavering loyalty and resilience. “Their support enabled the party to stand firm against dictatorships and endure imprisonment, always putting national interests above divisive politics,” he said.
Reflecting on the PML-N’s achievements, PM Shehbaz noted progress in agriculture, industry, and the economy during the party’s tenure. He also highlighted improved diplomatic ties and a focus on uplifting the common man.
Addressing political challenges faced by Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz said, “Attempts were made to sideline him, but his vision and sacrifices for the people earned him success.”
PM concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to serving the nation. “With Allah’s blessings and public support, we will continue our efforts to build a prosperous Pakistan under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership,” he said.
