A second marriage caused a man a close shave with death as her enraged first wife lunged at him with a razor blade, leaving him in a pool of death she then slit her wrists to end it all.

However, she failed and both survived with critical and were under treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

According to police a woman slit her husband's throat with a shaving blade before attempting suicide during an altercation between the couple in Baloch Colony on Sunday.

As per police account, the man named Rafi had contracted a second marriage, which led to the altercation with his first wife.

His first wife, Sameera, attacked him with a shaving blade and slit his neck before cutting her own neck with the same blade inside their house in Baloch Colony.

As soon as the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured couple to JPMC.

Though Rafi's second marriage is the apparent motive behind the attack, police said their investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, a young woman was killed in a shooting incident at house in New Karachi Sector.

Her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The victim was identified at the hospital as Initially, it was reported that a blind bullet hit the roof of the house, bounced and hit 18-year-old Ashina Imran.

According to New Karachi Police Station.SHO New Karachi Ghulam Yasin, the victim was hit by a bullet in the chest that went through the back. He expressed doubt that it was a case of a ricochet bullet.

"The girl died from a bullet fired from a pistol in the house. Initially, it seems to be the result of a domestic dispute," he said. Whether the girl shot herself or someone else shot her, further investigation is underway in this regard, while a case will be registered only after the burial of the victim. The body was handed over to the heirs by the police after post-mortem.
