Pi Network, a rapidly expanding blockchain platform, has introduced a major update ahead of its Open Network launch, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
The platform now offers access to 20 Mainnet Pi apps through the Ecosystem Interface in the Pi Browser, marking a significant step in its development.
The newly launched apps allow Pioneers to engage in real Pi transactions for goods and services, shifting away from the Testnet apps that had previously been used for development and testing purposes.
This update represents the first time that Pioneers can directly interact with fully operational apps that involve the exchange of real Pi.
"Today’s launch is a major milestone in Pi Network’s journey toward creating a decentralized ecosystem,” said a Pi Network spokesperson. “With the inclusion of Mainnet apps, we’re giving our users the opportunity to transact using Pi in real-world scenarios.”
The 20 initial apps are part of Pi Network’s ongoing effort to expand its ecosystem, with plans to add more applications over time.
These apps provide tangible utility to Pi, allowing users to engage in various services powered by the platform's blockchain technology.
The Ecosystem Interface, which had previously served as a space for testing and development, now functions as a hub for Pi apps that are fully operational.
Developers are invited to submit their projects for inclusion through the Pi Dev Portal, enabling them to reach Pi’s growing user base.
While the network has emphasized the importance of this development, it has also cautioned users to exercise care when interacting with these apps.
Since they are independently developed and not officially endorsed by Pi Network, users are advised to engage with them at their own risk.
The launch of Mainnet apps signals a turning point for Pi Network as it prepares for the Open Network phase. The platform’s goal is to foster a robust decentralized ecosystem, attract more developers, and increase adoption among its millions of users worldwide.
Pioneers can access the Mainnet apps and learn more about the development roadmap via the Pi app home screen or the Pi Browse
