Quetta Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Aitzaz Goraya has disclosed that eight police personnel were martyred and 12 had sustained injuries in the outgoing year 2024. He also said 83,466 pilgrims had been provided security and 7,000 individuals arrested in 2024.
Speaking at a press conference alongside senior police officials, he highlighted several achievements of the department, including the creation of 140 new traffic police posts and the establishment of an online complaint centre to address public grievances.
He also noted that 5,988 cases had been registered during the year. The DIG stressed the importance of resolving cases, such as the recovery of Muswar Khan, stating that a case could not be considered solved until all objectives were met. He further mentioned that 150 officers had been deployed for court security, 152 personnel assigned to government escort duties, and that the Quetta police structure consisted of four divisions and nine circles.
DIG Goraya also encouraged citizens to use the online complaint centre and emphasized the police's commitment to public safety and service delivery. "Our police force has worked tirelessly to maintain law and order in Quetta despite numerous challenges. We are committed to improving public safety and ensuring justice for all citizens," he said.
