Israel's military intercepted a missile early on Wednesday that had been launched from Yemen and crossed into Israeli territory, the army confirmed. Sirens were activated in the area due to the possibility of falling shrapnel from the interception, according to a statement. Magen David Adom ambulance service reported around nine people were injured while making their way to a protected area.

"For the fifth time in a week, millions of Israelis were sent to shelter as Houthi terrorists in Yemen launched a missile attack," the Israeli military said in a post on X. The Iran-backed Houthi group has repeatedly targeted Israel with drones and missiles, framing these as acts of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Earlier, Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility for a long-range 'ballistic missile' attack targeting Tel Aviv. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said, "Our missile force bombed a military target in Tel Aviv by using a hypersonic ballistic missile," adding that operations against Israel would continue until the aggression on Gaza ceases and the siege is lifted.

In the morning, Israel’s air defense systems successfully intercepted another missile fired from Yemen, the military stated, noting the projectile "was intercepted before crossing into Israeli territory."
