Netflix is entering the live sports arena this Christmas Day with an exclusive broadcast of two NFL games, showcasing its leap into live streaming. The event will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans. Adding a festive flair, Mariah Carey and Beyoncé will headline the entertainment, marking a significant partnership between Netflix and the NFL.

Mariah Carey will deliver a taped performance of her holiday classic All I Want for Christmas Is You ahead of the Steelers-Chiefs game at 1:00 p.m. ET. Beyoncé will take the spotlight during the halftime of the Texans-Ravens game, performing her hit Texas Hold ’Em. With a subscriber base of 282.3 million across 190 countries, Netflix will offer multilingual commentary in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. While Netflix leads the event, CBS affiliates will simultaneously air the games as required under NFL regulations for over-the-air accessibility.

"This partnership with the NFL reflects our commitment to delivering unique live experiences," said Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria. "NFL football draws unmatched audiences, and we are thrilled to bring this global experience to our platform."

Beyoncé’s promotional teaser, poking fun at streaming buffering issues, has amplified excitement for the event. The teaser, featuring her in a dramatic outfit strumming a banjo, showcases the playful tone of the collaboration.

The NFL’s decision to embrace Christmas Day games and Netflix’s live-streaming platform is part of a broader strategy to expand viewership. This groundbreaking partnership combines iconic sports with world-class entertainment, reshaping how global audiences engage with live events.
