The newly appointed Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore has eliminated traffic challan targets and implemented revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance the efficiency and accountability of traffic wardens and assistants across the city.
According to an official circular, senior officers will no longer impose challan quotas or pressurize wardens to meet predefined numbers.
Moreover, no traffic warden or circle officer will be assigned a position without prior approval from senior officials.
The CTO has also delegated authority to Superintendents of Police (SPs) to transfer Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), sector in-charges, and wardens. DSPs, in turn, can manage transfers within their respective circles, while wardens are empowered to transfer traffic assistants at their discretion.
The circular further states that officers absent for seven consecutive days will face suspension and have their salaries withheld. Additionally, personnel assigned to VIP duties will be granted rest periods after their shifts.
Action will be taken against officers if beggars, children, or transgender individuals are found near traffic signals under their jurisdiction.
