Hania Aamir recently made a bold style statement in New York, stepping out in an impeccably tailored navy pinstripe suit that blurred the lines between power dressing and streetwear. Styled by Aarinda Tul Noor, the Pakistani actor proves that androgynous tailoring can make you look and feel good.

The suit, crafted by Pakistani brand Licci, featured sharp, structured shoulders and a belted waist that cinched perfectly to accentuate her silhouette. The wide-leg trousers pooled elegantly around her crimson stilettos, adding fluidity to the structured top half. While Hania's exact suit is no longer available on Licci's official website, the brand offers similar iterations of this timeless look for those eager to recreate her moment.

To complement the outfit, the Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actor chose Jimmy Choo's glossy, ruby-red stilettos. The heels, reminiscent of Dorothy's iconic slippers in The Wizard of Oz, brought a playful edge to the ensemble without overshadowing its refined aesthetic. On the accessories front, Hania opted for Balenciaga's unisex 51mm rectangular sunglasses. The sharp geometry of the frames echoed the linear structure of the pinstripe suit, while their oversized silhouette introduced an air of nonchalance.

With minimal jewellery and soft curls in her hair, Hania allowed the power of her outfit to take centre stage. She showed off her outfit as she posed outside a hotel and lazily lounged on a red chair that resembled her shoes.

The pinstripe suit has long been synonymous with authority and sophistication. Emerging in the late 19th century, its exact origins remain debated. Some fashion historians believe pinstripes began as a uniform for Victorian bankers, with stripe thickness and spacing acting as identifiers for different financial institutions, as per The Bespoke Tailor.

Regardless of its origins, the pinstripe quickly became a symbol of power, crossing the Atlantic to dominate American menswear in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Hollywood stars and cultural icons alike adopted the style, cementing its place in fashion history.

By the mid-20th century, women began to reclaim the pinstripe suit, transforming it into a symbol of feminine empowerment. The pinstripe continues to evolve, seamlessly fitting into every decade's fashion narrative.

It's clear that the pinstripe renaissance is in full swing. In recent months, the trend has dominated red carpets, press tours, and city streets alike. Nicole Kidman recently donned a fitted black pinstripe suit during her press tour for Babygirl, swapping her blouse for an A24 graphic tee. Meanwhile, Halle Berry and Hailee Steinfeld showcased two distinct takes on the pinstripe look in New York—Berry in a fluid Alberta Ferretti set and Steinfeld in a bold blazer-and-shorts ensemble from Max Mara.
