Probe ends in Red Crescent official's dismissal

Nadeem Iqbal asked to deposit Rs1.53m into the treasury.

An employee of the Rawalpindi District Red Crescent, Nadeem Iqbal, has been dismissed from service due to 'misconduct and fraud.'

According to sources, the decision was made by the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner (DC) and Red Crescent chairman, who agreed with the findings of the inquiry committee report.

ADC Finance has sent a letter to Nadeem Iqbal asking him to return the additional salary amounting to Rs1.53 million.

Nadeem Iqbal was initially hired for a temporary position with a salary of Rs25,000. However, during his tenure as recruitment secretary, allegedly on fake leave, his salary saw significant increments - first to Rs35,000, then to Rs45,000, and eventually to Rs150,000.

Sources further said these salary increases were made in contravention of legal requirements. Furthermore, it is alleged that Nadeem Iqbal secured the director position through misconduct, misleading actions, and cheating.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hassan Waqar Cheema dismissed the Director of Red Crescent following an inquiry committee report that substantiated allegations of misconduct, cheating, and misleading against him.

In his dismissal order, DC stated that a show cause notice was issued to him, and his position was heard in detail during the inquiry.

After allegations of misconduct, mismanagement, and cheating were raised against the director of the Red Crescent, an inquiry did not begin for several years. When it finally commenced, it was further prolonged due to external influences. Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the Red Crescent Hassan Waqar Cheema personally reviewed the inquiry report.

Agreeing with the report's findings, Cheema issued orders for Nadeem Iqbal's dismissal.

Furthermore, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Finance issued a written order for Nadeem Iqbal to deposit Rs1.53 million, the additional salary he had received, into the government treasury.
