EVs for Saddar Bazaar on the cards

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has announced plans to introduce battery-powered tourist vehicles in Saddar Bazaar, aiming to improve convenience for families and shoppers while promoting an eco-friendly environment in the commercial hub.

According to official sources, the initiative seeks to curb the use of petrol and diesel vehicles, including motorcycles, in the area to reduce pollution and enhance the overall experience for visitors.

RCB has invited tenders for the procurement of these eco-friendly vehicles, with submissions open until January 2. Bids will be reviewed and opened on January 6, followed by the issuance of work orders to successful bidders by January 10. The contract will be awarded

to the company offering the lowest bid.

"This is a significant eco-friendly project," said the Chief Executive Officer of RCB, highlighting the board's commitment to sustainable urban solutions.

On the other hand, the Saddar Commercial Area Underground Cabling project is nearing its completion.

The work involves placing all cables underground on key roads including Bank Road, Haider Road, Kashmir Road, King Road, and Mall Road.
