Karen Huger, star of The Real Housewives of Potomac, has been found guilty on multiple charges stemming from a DUI incident in March. The 61-year-old reality star faced charges after a single-vehicle collision in Potomac, Maryland, where she reportedly crossed a median and struck several street signs, according to Montgomery County Police.

Huger was charged with DUI, DWI, negligent driving, and failure to control vehicle speed. On Tuesday, December 17, the jury found her guilty on all charges except reckless driving. Sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025, as confirmed by PEOPLE. Huger’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the verdict but stated, “We respect the jury’s decision and reserve the right to an appeal.”

During the trial, witnesses described the events of the night, alleging signs of impairment. One individual claimed Huger’s car smelled of alcohol, and a volunteer EMT testified that she swayed while trying to step into an ambulance. Bodycam footage presented in court reportedly captured an officer describing Huger as “hammered,” which she denied, calling the claim “bulls---.”

Huger later attributed the incident to grief over her late mother’s passing, explaining that the approach of Mother’s Day had left her emotionally overwhelmed. She recounted swerving to avoid an oncoming car, which led to the crash, and urged others to assess their emotional state before driving.

The incident has become a significant storyline in RHOP Season 9, airing Sundays on Bravo. Huger’s case serves as both a personal and public reminder of the importance of emotional and mental fitness when driving, shedding light on the challenges of managing grief responsibly.
