City braces for 10-day cold snap

Temperatures may drop to single digit over next three days

KARACHI:

City's cold wave is expected to persist for another 10 days, according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz. The ongoing cold spell is attributed to cold winds blowing from Balochistan.

The western wind system, which began two weeks ago, is forecasted to continue for another 10 days. Temperatures may drop to single digits over the next three days, as predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Currently, sea breezes are inactive, and winds are blowing from northeast Balochistan. A change in wind direction will determine the weather in rural Sindh and urban areas, including Karachi.

PMD warns that Tharparkar and Umarkot will experience intensified cold in the coming days. On Wednesday, Karachi's minimum temperature was 13 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature dropped 1.2 degrees to 27 degrees Celsius. Interior Sindh's lowest temperature was recorded in Mithi at 1.5 degrees Celsius.
