The capital's police have formed a number of joint investigation teams (JITs) to probe into the acts of violence allegedly committed by PTI workers and leaders during their protest march in the federal capital from November 24 to November 26.
The JITs led by zonal superintendents of police (SPs) comprise the relevant sub-division police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) while members from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are also part of them.
Various police stations in Islamabad lodged a total of 18 first information reports (FIRs) against PTI leaders and workers under charges of murder, attempted murder and terrorism. Thousands of people are nominated in these cases
According to sources, these JITs have initiated investigations into these 18 cases.
The JITs will gather evidence and record the statements of the accused in all cases. The comprehensive reports compiled by these JITs will be included as part of the prosecution to ensure that the cases are presented more effectively in court.
