Popular streamer Ludwig Ahgren has revealed a $3 million accounting scandal that led to the closure of the events branch of his creative agency, Offbrand.
The shocking details emerged during Ludwig’s December 14 broadcast, following an official announcement from Offbrand the previous day, stating the events branch had been shut down due to unsustainable business practices.
Ludwig disclosed that over several years, his YouTube sponsorship money had been diverted to inflate Offbrand’s financial numbers. “My sponsorship money has not been paid out to me in a couple of years,” Ludwig explained. “It was basically being used as float to make Offbrand’s numbers look better than they were. When I found this out, I was like, ‘Oh damn, the books here are cooked.’”
The streamer estimated the financial mismanagement totaled “about three mil” and noted that the company faced an untenable financial hole. To prevent broader fallout affecting Offbrand and his other ventures like Mogul Moves, Ludwig and his team decided to act decisively, leading to the branch’s sudden closure.
While Offbrand Games will continue operations, Ludwig clarified that this decision was unrelated to his YouTube contract, which ended on November 30. Instead, the business model and internal challenges ultimately made the events vertical unsustainable. Ludwig intends to handle the matter privately but felt it necessary to provide transparency about the closure.
This revelation marks a pivotal moment for Offbrand, underscoring the challenges faced by even successful creators in managing large-scale ventures.
