Lee Jung-jae teases 'Squid Game Season 2' with "more surprises" and "Psychological Warfare"

Lee Jung-jae, star of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, has teased a thrilling new chapter in season 2. At the Los Angeles premiere on December 12, 2024, the actor shared exciting details with PEOPLE, confirming that fans can expect even more shocking moments than the first season.

Jung-jae explained that the upcoming season will introduce "new games" that are bound to keep viewers on edge. "There are games within games, and I call them psychological warfare," he said. "We have so much of them in season 1, but now you'll see enemies turn into friends and vice versa. You never know what's coming next."

He added, “There’s so many twists and turns, so you’re in for a big surprise.” The global success of Squid Game has set high expectations for season 2, especially after its groundbreaking first season, which was Netflix's "biggest series launch ever."

Jung-jae also expressed his gratitude for the worldwide fanbase that the show has cultivated. "I know that lots of fans are rooting for us. They love us, and what’s special is that I not only have Korean fans now, but people all across the globe noticed me and they love me."

The second season will follow Jung-jae's character, Seong Gi-hun, who returns to the game three years after his victory. The new season is set to premiere on Netflix on December 26, 2024.
