For the first time ever, in addition to being broadcast live on ABC, the Oscars will be available for live streaming on Hulu on March 2, 2025 starting at 7PM ET, announced the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Wednesday morning. The ceremony will also be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.

For a whopping 50 years, the Oscars ceremony has been broadcast live on ABC alone. This inclusion of a streaming option makes the annual prestigious awards show more accessible than ever. Both ABC and Hulu fall under the umbrella of The Walt Disney Company.

As per Deadline, the shortlist for the 97th Academy Awards will be revealed on December 17, followed by the nominations on January 17. Comedian and talk show host Conan O'Brien will be making his debut as Oscars host, ending fellow comedian Jimmy Kimmel's two-year streak. Had Kimmel accepted hosting the awards in 2025, it would have been his sixth time overall.

"We are thrilled and honoured to have the incomparable Conan O'Brien host the Oscars this year," Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang had said in a statement last month. "He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humour, his love of movies and his live TV expertise. His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best - honour the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy has yet to announce any further details about planned programming or official presenters. Raj Kapoor will return as executive producer and showrunner with Katy Mullan as executive producer and Hamish Hamilton as director of the program. ABC's broadcast of the event will appear in more than 200 territories worldwide.
