Local government representatives in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have sought financial assistance from the federal government due to the lack of funds from the province.

They have written a letter to the federal authorities, demanding that under Section 30, Clause B of the Local Government Act, the National Finance Commission share can be directly allocated to local government institutions.

On Thursday, the representatives met with Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal. Among those present were former provincial assembly member Ikhtiar Wali, Mardan Mayor Himayatullah Mayar, Coordinator of the Action Council for Local Councils Association Intizar Khalil, Sarai Naurang (Lakki Marwat) Tehsil Chairman Azizullah Marwat, who is also the spokesperson of the Action Council, and other tehsil chairmen.

The President of the Action Council for Local Councils, Himayatullah Mayar, informed the federal minister about the challenges faced by local governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
