Following a thorough manhunt, Luigi Mangione, suspected of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan on December 4, was taken into custody. NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed Mangione's arrest for gun possession during a press conference on Monday, December 9.

Mangione’s extradition hearing took place on Tuesday, December 10. He appeared in the Blaire County courtroom wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, with his hands and feet shackled. As officers escorted him from the sheriff’s vehicle to the courthouse, Mangione reportedly shouted at bystanders: "It's completely out of touch! It's an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience!"

However, viewers of the video pointed out that Mangione said "completely unjust" rather than "completely out of touch." Although it remains unclear what he was referencing, his outburst was captured on video and widely shared on social media, sparking mixed reactions.

One Reddit user, @lunaappaloosa, commented on the significance of the events, stating:
"I am in disbelief that it's possible for a true monoculture Hero to arise like this in the 21st century. Every piece of new info feels historic."

After the video went viral, several netizens criticized the officers for their treatment of Mangione, claiming they were too harsh.

"Why are officers rough with him? He's not resisting, he's just shouting his opinion. No need to shove him," one Reddit user remarked.

"Let my boi speak! He obviously has some very important things to say. What are the authorities so afraid of?," another added.

"These cops are being so rough with him. LET HIM SPEAK," echoed another user.

The latest footage of Mangione led others to question the circumstances of the case, with some speculating that he was being framed.

"This does not add up. The killer supposedly did everything to hide his identity and get away....then a few days later gets caught sitting in a McDonalds with the murder weapon, a manifesto, and the fake id that was used at the hostel. That easy?," one user on X questioned.
"Is he referring to how hard the cops are trying to make people believe he's the guy?," another user speculated.
