Indian actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his role in Stree 2, was kidnapped in a ransom plot, just weeks after comedian Sunil Pal’s similar ordeal, the Indian media reported.

Khan, 50, was invited to an award show in Meerut on November 20, where he was promised an advance payment and flight tickets.

Upon arriving in Delhi, Khan was coerced into a car and driven to the outskirts, near Bijnor.

There, he was held captive for nearly 12 hours, with his captors demanding $120,000 (₹1 Crore) in ransom.

“They tortured him for hours,” said Shivam Yadav, Khan’s business partner, speaking to India Today.

“They took more than $2,400 from his and his son’s accounts.”

In the early hours, Khan heard the morning azaan and realised a mosque was nearby.

Seizing the moment, he escaped and sought help from locals. With police assistance, he returned home.

Khan’s family was “completely shaken” by the incident, Yadav said.

“After Mushtaq sir calmed down, we filed an FIR. We have proof: flight tickets, bank records, and CCTV footage near the airport. Khan even recognizes the neighborhood and house where he was kept,” Yadav added.

Authorities are investigating the case, and police believe the kidnappers may be part of a larger syndicate targeting celebrities.

“We had no idea about Sunil Pal’s case at first. But when we learned about it, it was shocking. Two public figures were taken in similar ways. We hope the authorities provide more protection for everyone in the industry,” Yadav said.

As of now, Khan is recovering from the trauma and is expected to address the media soon.
