Equality, respect for minorities stressed

Speakers at a seminar marking Human Rights Day and Anti-Corruption Day, held at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) on Tuesday, called for respect and inclusivity of minorities in the society.

Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor Dr Kanwal Ameen emphasized the importance of promoting equality and fostering harmony.

"Let us promote equality and respect, stand against injustice and oppression, and create a world where everyone thrives without leaving anyone behind," she stated.

Dr Ameen also highlighted the significance of treating all communities with dignity, urging attendees to reflect on their actions and uphold the principles of respect and fairness.

"GCWUF ensures the welfare of all employees, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background. This ceremony symbolizes love and unity, and we will continue to celebrate the happiness of our staff on every occasion," she added.

Focusing on women's rights, the VC encouraged women to seek assistance from government-established centers if they face oppression, emphasizing the importance of their empowerment and protection.

President Anjuman Tajiran, Naseer Yousaf Wohra, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the values of love, peace, and brotherhood taught by Christmas. "We should respect all religions and join in the celebrations of others with joy and compassion," he remarked.

An awareness walk was also held for Anti-Corruption Day.
