Moonshine claims six lives over two days in Benazirabad

The victims were from various villages under the jurisdiction of Punhal Khan Chandio police station.

Six people have died after consuming illicit moonshine liquor within two days in Benazirabad (Nawabshah) district. According to police and family sources, 47-year-old Balsher Brohi and 30-year-old Bashir Ahmed Zardari died on Tuesday at a local hospital.

On Monday, four men - identified as 50-year-old Mushtak Ali Jokhio, 40-year-old Intezar Khoso, 30-year-old Maur Khoso, and 35-year-old Abdul Salam Chandio - also lost their lives after consuming the toxic liquor. The victims were from various villages under the jurisdiction of Punhal Khan Chandio police station.

Moreover, three men - identified as Imran Brohi, Muhammad Musa Brohi, and Muhammad Yousuf Chandio - who had fallen ill after drinking the same booze, have reportedly recovered after receiving treatment at the hospital.

Sardar Umrani, SHO of the local police station, registered as case involving illegal production and sale of moonshine. One suspect, identified as Dilbar Khoso, has been arrested, while suspended SHO Javed Iqbal Rajput and a liquor dealer, Inayat Khoso, have also been nominated in the FIR which invokes Sections 302 (murder), 337 (hurt), and 109 (abetment) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
