KARACHI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh expressed deep concerns over the persistent violations of human rights in Pakistan. In his statement, issued on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, he emphasised that the right to freedom of expression is the most fundamental human right. However, he lamented that this right is being suppressed in Pakistan, describing such suppression as the worst form of human rights abuse.

Haleem said that the government has crossed all limits of human rights violation and targeting PTI through inhumane treatment of its leaders, workers and supporters, by implicating them in false cases. He warned that these actions are fueling resentment among the people.

Discussing the state of education in Pakistan, Haleem highlighted that millions of children are deprived of schooling despite education being a basic human right.

The low literacy rate, he argued, has left the public unaware of their fundamental rights. "We have laws and a constitution that guarantee human rights," he noted.
