Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with Li Hongzhong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, in Beijing today to further strengthen Pakistan-China strategic ties, Express News reported.

Upon her arrival, Li Hongzhong warmly welcomed the Chief Minister and her delegation. During the meeting, both sides agreed on the commitment to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations. Li Hongzhong praised the commitment of Maryam Nawaz's family in advancing Pakistan-China relations.

"I see this visit as a beacon of friendship for the young generation of political leaders," said Maryam Nawaz during the meeting. She expressed her desire to leverage China’s experience and observations to improve governance in Punjab.

"This is my first official visit, and it is a testament to our ongoing efforts to strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and China," she added.

Li Hongzhong also commended Maryam Nawaz for her insightful views on China’s governance system, geopolitical issues, development, and culture. "It is an honour to meet a dynamic and visionary leader like the Chief Minister of Punjab," he said.

He reaffirmed China's commitment to further developing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and taking bilateral relations to new heights.

He also highlighted Maryam Nawaz’s vision for serving the people of Punjab and praised her continued efforts to promote stronger ties between China and Pakistan.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to take further steps to promote and stabilize bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of their countries.
