Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar marks its 10th anniversary with a special collector’s edition and a limited engagement in IMAX theaters. The sci-fi epic, originally released in 2014, continues to captivate audiences with its groundbreaking visuals and thought-provoking narrative.
The anniversary celebration includes a 4K Ultra HD Collector’s Edition set, featuring over two hours of new and legacy bonus content. Highlights include the featurette The Future Is Now: A Look Back at Interstellar, offering insights from Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, co-writer Jonathan Nolan, and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne. The behind-the-scenes footage revisits the meticulous creation of the film’s prophetic black hole visuals.
Nolan recalled his initial reluctance to involve Thorne directly with the visual effects team but later acknowledged the decision's significance. After the first real image of a black hole closely mirrored the film’s design, Nolan remarked to Thorne, “It’s a good thing you were right.”
The special edition set includes a digital copy of the film, theatrical poster reproductions, costume patch replicas, and a never-before-seen storyboard sequence from Nolan's archives.
Interstellar’s IMAX re-release and commemorative edition underline its enduring impact, praised for its emotional depth and scientific accuracy. As one of Nolan’s most ambitious works, the film remains a testament to the power of collaboration between science and cinema.
