KARACHI:

Senator Faisal Vawda has stressed the urgent need for political leaders and parties to prioritise a national agenda to steer Pakistan out of its current crises and to political and economic stability.

His remarks came during a visit to the MQM-P headquarters in Bahadurabad on Sunday, where he met the party's coordination committee and senior leadership, including Mustafa Kamal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Anis Kaimkhani.

Addressing the media, Vawda said, the nation cannot afford further protests, sit-ins, and unrest. Such actions harm the country, adding that it was imperative for all political parties to work together for the national cause. Vawda lauded MQM-P's leadership as a unifying force, saying that the party's presence served as a bridge, and its mandate should be acknowledged at both federal and provincial levels.

Mustafa Kamal described Vawda as a "one-man army" committed to bridging divides and fostering political harmony.

Vawda is acting like a true statesman and mature politician to evolve political consensus at a time when political maturity is badly needed to detoxify politics.

Kamal added that MQM-P would fully support Vawda's efforts to stabilise the country, saying that political cohesion was crucial during the challenging times.

Vawda stressed that political stability required unity among all parties, including PTI. "When needed, I will also meet with PTI."

However, he warned that some people were looking to sacrifice the PTI founder Imran Khan to advance their own political agenda.

"Imran's sisters are the only individuals truly loyal to him," Vawda said, accusing certain individuals of seeking to politically capitalise on the incarcerated leader's struggles.

The senator further stressed the importance of reconciliation, vowing to engage with all political factions, including religious and nationalist parties, to foster harmony. He also hinted at future discussions with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to resolve issues.
