A sweet instance of cross-border comparison cropped up when a fan compared Sonya Hussaiyn to a renowned Indian actor. "Ma'am, looking at you reminds me of the legend Sridevi," the user expressed on Instagram.
The remark earned the notice of Sonya, who gratefully wrote back, "We can never compete with her legacy. She was one of a kind, truly an iconic actor, but I'm so humbled and grateful. Thank you."
This isn't the first time that Sridevi struck a resemblance with a beloved Pakistani actor. The English Vinglish actor starred in 2017 Indian film Mom as Devki Sabarwal, the lionhearted mother of Arya Sabarwal, who was played by our very own Sajal Ali. Now it seems that her enchanting visage has found a new match among local stars.
Sonya's beauty is also not a thing to be downplayed. In a recent Instagram post, she flaunted a striking blue sari as a wedding season look. Waxing lyrical in the caption, she wrote, "Safe for these fluttering eyelashes, the heart doesn't reside anywhere else."
While the Azaadi actor sports modesty off-camera, she continues to make strides on the big and small screens. Going back to her horror-mystery roots, she is set to star in Pakistani film Deemak alongside other famed actors, such as Faysal Quraishi, Javed Sheikh, Samina Peerzada, and Bushra Ansari.
The script is written by horror author Ayesha Muzzafar, or abusjinns on Instagram, who is known for her true-to-life paranormal stories. Deemak's trailer also claims inspiration from real-life events.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and jinns, my very first script is finally coming to life. The journey of creating Deemak with Wah Wah Productions and Rafay Rashdi has been nothing short of thrilling. Starring Pakistan's most celebrated actors, this dark, gripping, and deeply unsettling tale will be infesting your screens very soon," Ayesha wrote on Instagram.
