A young couple who recently married of their own choice was murdered in a suspected honour killing in the Kot Lakhpat area of Lahore.
The victims, identified as 22-year-old Izhar and 19-year-old Benish, were found dead in their rented flat on Chand Rai Road.
Police said unidentified assailants entered the couple's residence, subjected them to severe torture and then slit their throats before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the location, collected evidence, and transferred the bodies to the morgue for post-mortem via Edhi ambulances.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Izhar and Benish hailed from Gilgit and had moved to Lahore a few months ago after marrying against their families' wishes.
They had been residing near Benish's uncle's house.
Police suspect the murders were motivated by so-called honour concerns.
Authorities recovered the suspected murder weapon from the scene and are using fingerprints found on it to identify the culprits.
A police official stated, "We are analysing forensic evidence and pursuing all leads to apprehend the suspects.
