The Department of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control has completed the preparation of 169,808 computerised number plates for vehicles and motorcycles registered in the last two years. Dispatch of number plates to vehicle owners is expected to be completed soon.
Distribution-wise, 14,384 number plates have been prepared for vehicles from Rawalpindi Division. These include computerised number plates of 7,952 vehicles from Rawalpindi district, 1,665 from Attock,1,514 from Chakwal and 3,053 from Jhelum.
After the delivery of these number plates, the department will have around 25,000 more number plates to prepare for the province of Punjab. Excise Department DG said that the pendency of computerised number plates of all new vehicles and motorcycles will be eliminated by December 31.
Additionally, the smart computerised card and computerised number plate system, as well as computerised registration of vehicles will be regularised and kept up-to-date from the start of 2025.
