Prince Harry expressed his gratitude for raising his two children, Archie and Lilibet, in the United States during a conversation at The New York Times DealBook Online Summit on December 4, 2024. In his talk with Andrew Ross Sorkin, the Duke of Sussex revealed that living in California has offered him opportunities he never imagined, saying, “It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.”
He added that raising his children in the U.S. aligns with what his late mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted for him. “It’s the life my mom wanted for me,” Harry said, noting that it has allowed him to do things with his kids that he believes would have been impossible in the U.K.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have made Montecito, California, their home since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. The couple shares two children: five-year-old Archie and three-year-old Lilibet. The Duke previously changed his residence status on official paperwork to reflect his U.S. residence in 2023.
During the summit, Prince Harry also discussed his concerns about media disinformation and its potential impact on his family, drawing parallels to his mother’s own experiences with the press. He expressed worry over how the media culture could affect his wife and children, adding, “What worried me most was worrying that would happen to me, or to my wife, or to my kids.”
As he continues to build a life in the U.S., Prince Harry remains deeply connected to his mother’s legacy and the values she instilled in him
