ATC issues contempt notice to police for not producing arrested PTI leaders in court

The court directed the SSP to appear before the court as he failed to present PTI leaders arrested outside Adiala jail

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) issued a contempt of court notice to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nabeel Khokhar on Thursday after he failed to present Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders arrested outside Adiala Jail.

The court issued a notice during a hearing related to a petition filed by PTI regarding the release of their leaders, including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, who were arrested earlier in the day.

The court, led by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, had set a deadline of 7:30 pm for the police to present the detained leaders before the court. However, despite the passing of the deadline, the PTI leaders were not brought to court, prompting Judge Shah to take action against SSP Khokhar.

The court issued the contempt notice and directed SSP Khokhar to appear before the court at 9:00 am on Friday to provide an explanation.
