ICC Champions Trophy: Indian media claims BCCI agrees to PCB's proposal on hybrid model

Under the arrangement, India will not visit Pakistan for the tournament and Pakistan will not play in India until 2027

Indian media has reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposed hybrid model for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, with the final decision expected to be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on December 7, Express News reported.

According to the report, the BCCI has conveyed its approval of the hybrid model to the ICC, ensuring that India's matches in the Champions Trophy will be held at a neutral venue.

Under this arrangement, India will not visit Pakistan for the tournament, and similarly, Pakistan will not play in India until 2027. This agreement is expected to apply to all ICC events, including the Champions Trophy, the 2026 Women’s World Cup, and the T20 World Cup.

Sources suggest that, despite some unresolved matters, the agreement is on the verge of being finalised. Senior journalist Saleem Khaleeq reported that PCB officials acknowledged that a few issues remain pending, but the matter is expected to be cleared up in the next two days.

The discussions between Jay Shah, Secretary of the BCCI, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi were reportedly informal but crucial in bringing both parties closer to a resolution. The ICC was expected to make a formal announcement on the issue during its meeting on December 7.
