The start of the new year in 2025 will fall on a Wednesday, followed by a Thursday and Friday, which led some social media users to joke that the year is beginning with a "WTF."
A popular meme account on Instagram, "todayyearsold," shared a screenshot of the January 2025 calendar, highlighting the first three days of the year, and made the joke in their caption.

'Should we be worried that 2025 begins with a 'WTF,' the account wrote in a post that got more than 355,000 likes and over 1,200 comments.
Many users recalled that 2020 also began with a "WTF," suggesting it could be an ominous sign.
'Urmmmm the last time we started the year wtf it was 2020,' one user commented.
Others speculated that the "WTF" might be a reference to the difficult events of the previous year.
'It’s saying “wtf was that” referring to 2024 lol,' one user wrote.
'Maybe that’s 2025’s response to 2024,' another said.
Some users didn’t see any cause for concern and pointed out that it was simply a common expression.
'Every damn week ends in WTF,' one comment noted.
While this is largely a playful comment, there are many signs suggesting that 2025 could be a challenging year.
One of the more alarming developments is the growing tensions in the Russia-Ukraine war.
The war, which began in 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine, has been simmering since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.
Recently, President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles to target Russian locations, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the UK made a similar move with British missiles.
In retaliation, Russian officials have threatened nuclear warfare, raising fears about the potential for World War III.
