Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia tomorrow, in response to an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will meet with the Crown Prince for the third time in six weeks, with discussions expected to cover regional developments, including the potential return of Donald Trump to power and other important international matters.
The visit will also see the Prime Minister's participation in the Water Summit in Riyadh, where global leaders will convene to discuss water-related challenges.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif will attend the UNCCD Conference of the Parties, which focuses on global land restoration initiatives, and is a key component of the United Nations' three major environmental agreements.
While in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will also meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other prominent global leaders to discuss pressing global issues.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia sign $560 million deal; Prime Minister briefed
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been briefed on a $560 million deal signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, marking significant progress in their ongoing bilateral cooperation. A review meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, focused on the advancement of joint ventures and investments in various sectors.
The meeting underscored the long-standing friendship between the two nations, with the Prime Minister expressing satisfaction with the successful implementation of ongoing projects. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expanding its cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
A key highlight of the meeting was the update on the second session of the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Joint Task Force held in November, where both nations signed 34 MoUs in a short period. Seven of these MoUs have been formalized into agreements worth a total of $560 million, marking a milestone in the strategic relationship between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by various senior ministers and officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, and the Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Masood Malik.
