During Sunday's NFL game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair delivered a controversial hit to Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, leaving him with a concussion.

The hit, which occurred as Lawrence was sliding to the ground, was widely criticised as one of the dirtiest of the season. Al-Shaair was immediately ejected from the game and now faces a potential fine and suspension for the dangerous play.

The incident led to multiple scuffles on the field, but it was the reaction from New York Giants legend Michael Strahan that gained significant attention.

Speaking during the International Sports halftime show, Strahan condemned the hit, stating that Al-Shaair’s actions were uncalled for and left Lawrence vulnerable, especially after having missed two games earlier in the season due to a shoulder injury.

Strahan emphasised the importance of player safety, noting that even in competitive situations, players should show respect for each other. He pointed out that this unnecessary hit jeopardised Lawrence’s health and the integrity of the game.

After the hit, Al-Shaair did not show any remorse, instead taking off his helmet and flexing while threatening to fight players and fans. Lawrence was later carted off the field and diagnosed with his second concussion in less than a year.

Despite the injury, Lawrence shared an encouraging update on social media following the game, assuring fans that he was doing well.
