Trigger-happy muggers shot and killed three more citizens who put up resistance during separate armed robberies in Bin Qasim and Sukhun neighbourhoods of the metropolis on Thursday.
As per details, a young man was shot dead by armed robbers at a shop near Ghaghar Phatak in the remits of Bin Qasim police station. The body was shifted to JPMC by rescuers where the deceased was identified as 20-year-old Sarfaraz.
In another incident, suspected robbers riding a motorcycle shot and injured two men during an attempted robbery in Sukhun police limits. The injured were rushed to JPMC where they were identified as 26-year-old Mazhar Ali and 28-year-old Yaqoob. Both the victims died during the treatment.
According to witnesses, Ali and Yaqoob were intercepted by suspected robbers who snatched Ali's cell phone and tried to flee. Ali raised alarm asking people to catch the fleeing muggers.
One of them was overpowered by people, while his accomplice opened fire, injuring Ali and Yaqoob.
The robber caught by people was later handed over to police. A case has been registered on the complaint of Shakeel, the brother of Yaqoob.
Javed Abro, SHO Sukhun police station, said that the robber caught by people was beaten severely before he was handed over to police. Police recovered a motorcycle from the arrested robber identified as Nawaz. Raids are ongoing to arrest his accomplice.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of rising violent street crime incidents in the city. He directed the police bosses to take measures to protect the lives of citizens and increase police patrolling.
About the death of 20-year-old Sarfaraz, Karachi police chief AIG Javed Alam Odho stated in a report to the CM that personal enmity was the motive behind the murder as the killer and the victim belonged to the same area.
However, the CM instructed police to arrest the killer at the earliest.
