Govt may extend date for VPN registration

The federal government might extend the time period for the registration of the VPN on the request of the PTA, sources said on Thursday, just four days before the expiry of the deadline.

The interior ministry has set the deadline of Nov 30 for the registration of VPN. The PTA has also announced that all the unregistered VPNs would be closed from December 1. Now, according to the sources, the PTA has requested the interior ministry to extend the deadline.

Sources say that more than 200 VPNs were being registered daily. The authority was also consulting the stakeholders on the registration process. According to the PTA sources, the stakeholders wanted extension of the registration date and a simplified procedure.
