RAWALPINDI:

The High Court and District Bar Association of Rawalpindi have vehemently condemned the alleged incident of violent firing on civil workers of a political party in the federal capital, calling for a judicial inquiry into the incident.

In a joint statement, High Court Bar President Malik Jawad Khalid, Secretary General Shabbir Mirza, District Bar President Intezar Mehdi Shah, and Secretary Raja Shahid Zafar demanded that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Yahya Afridi, initiate a judicial inquiry to uncover the truth behind the incident.

The Bar officials emphasised that such acts of violence must be addressed swiftly, with effective measures taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

They also reaffirmed that peaceful protest is a fundamental constitutional right of all citizens and political workers, which must be upheld at all costs.
