Asif Raza Mir is reprising his role as Asif Afidi in Season 3 of British television series Gangs of London. His return was confirmed by a teaser released recently. The first look finds Mir's character Asif lounging all by himself, possibly cooking up schemes for fresh grabs at power. Although the teaser offers nothing more than a glimpse, it is exciting to see what the Pakistani actor will bring to the table this time.
Aside from Mir, prominent cast members, such as Joe Cole, Sope Dirisu, and Michelle Fairley have also been confirmed to make a return. According to Deadline, the synopsis states, "As chaos erupts in London after a spiked shipment of cocaine kills hundreds, fan-favourite characters collide with new faces bound by blood ties, sparking brutal power struggles, unexpected alliances, and fierce rivalries."
Promising new opportunities for a power struggle, the drama series has also welcomed fresh faces on board, such as Andrew Koji, Richard Dormer, and T'Nia Miller. As per the publication, Koji will take up the role of an assassin, whereas Dormer will play a key character from the past. Miller, on the other hand, will play the new Mayor of London - an obstacle that is sure to turn the game against the gangsters.
Back in 2020, Mir spoke to Canadian publication CTV about his experience as a cast member in the project. "The nice thing about this project that I personally liked is that it's a typical crime gangster series but every individual has his own backstory and at the same time it has the human side of it: the family, the emotions," he said.
When asked about the differences in working for a Pakistani production as compared to a British one, the 65-year-old actor answered that local media is "slightly more melodramatic". According to him, the west prioritises subtlety while his native industry relies more on expressions.
