PA speaker for suspension of MPAs causing 'chaos'

Calls for decisive steps to ensure political, economic stability

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has called for the suspension of any assembly member found responsible for creating unrest in the country.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected President Khawaja Nasir and Secretary Adnan Sheikh of the Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Committee, the Speaker stressed the importance of main-taining order and prioritising national welfare over personal or political gains.

The Speaker acknowledged the constitutional right to peaceful protest but condemned actions that disrupt national security and stability. "Those who create chaos, regardless of their posi-tion as assembly members, must face consequences," he asserted.

Highlighting the critical role of political stability, Speaker Khan remarked that the welfare of the people should be the central goal of any political party or movement.

Referring to the events of May 9, he described them as attacks on the nation's armed forces and institu-tions, accusing a provincial chief minister of col-laborating with rioters to undermine the federation. He also criticized the use of social media to dis-credit opposition politicians and the judiciary.

"The armed forces are a source of pride for any na-tion, and baseless allegations against them must stop," he stated, urging the government to take de-cisive measures against elements promoting unrest.

Speaker Khan attributed the country's current tur-moil to the actions of certain individuals, empha-sising their reliance on creating division and chaos to sustain their influence.

He also expressed concern over growing rifts within the judiciary, which he said are hindering the de-livery of justice. "Political stability and a strong government are es-sential for economic progress, yet the ongoing tur-moil continues unchecked," he lamented.
