Indian Bassist Mohini Dey, a longtime collaborator with Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, recently broke her silence regarding speculation over a supposed relationship with the music icon.
The rumours, sparked after Rahman and his wife Saira Banu were reported to be separating, emerged following Dey's own announcement of her separation from her husband, Mark.
In response to social media speculation, Dey addressed the issue directly in an Instagram story, describing the rumours as "baseless" and unrelated to her personal life.
Dey also noted receiving multiple media requests for interviews but stated she had no intention of responding to "unfounded gossip."
Rahman's wife’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, has similarly dismissed the speculation, confirming that Rahman’s marital issues have no link to Dey's own situation, which, according to Dey, is a mutual decision between herself and her husband to separate amicably.
"We remain good friends despite this personal decision," said Dey and her husband in a joint statement, requesting fans to respect their privacy.
Dey, originally from Kolkata and widely recognised for her talent, has performed with Rahman in over 40 concerts globally.
