Medical schools: 33,694 candidates to take entry tests today

LAHORE:

As many as 33,694 candidates will appear in the entry tests to be eligible for admission to medical schools in the Punjab given by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday (today). Of these, 10,859 candidates are male and 22,835 are female.

The UHS has established 21 centres in 12 cities of the province for this purpose. The test is scheduled to begin at 9 am at all centres and continue for two and a half hours.

There are going to be 220 multiple choice questions, divided into four sections; physics (44), chemistry (58), english (30) and biology (88). Candidates will also be required to answer another 22 questions in aptitude and feedback sections this year. Marks obtained in these sections will not be included in the test scores.

Test centres will be closed at 8:15 am and the candidates have been advised to reach their respective centres at least one hour ahead of the time.

Three centres have been set up in Lahore at the University of Engineering and Technology, BISE Examination Halls and the Punjab University Examination Halls.

The tests will also be administered in Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujrat, DG Khan, Sargodha, and Hassan Abdal.

Security arrangements

Walk-through gates and mobile phone jammers have been installed at all the centres. Divisional commissioners have been appointed as regional coordinators for the test at the respective centres.

The candidates will not be allowed to take mobile phones, calculators, laptops or notes to the examination centres. Every candidate will have to produce the admission card issued by the UHS in order to enter the centre.

Traffic police have been directed to make adequate parking arrangements for the candidates and help people maintain a smooth flow of traffic near the examination centres.
