HYDERABAD:

Rescuers pulled out alive a cow that fell into an open sewer in Latifabad on Wednesday, marking the third such incident in the past two months.

As per details, the incident took place near the N3 pumping station of the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation, located in Latifabad Unit No 12, within the remits of A Section police station.

The cow fell into the drain while foraging for food among a pile of garbage. Stray cows are often seen scavenging in the area, contributing to the growing concerns over their presence in urban spaces.

A Rescue 1122 team was called in, which after about two to three hours of efforts extricated the cow from the drain.

Stray cows have become a common sight in the city, often roaming in groups and even sitting in the middle of busy roads, causing traffic disruptions. Despite the growing nuisance, local bodies, including the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and its health department, have been criticised for their inaction on the issue.
