Sephora has swiftly responded to a swell of online rumors suggesting it had financially supported Donald Trump’s campaign. These viral claims, predominantly spread on TikTok, urged left-leaning consumers to boycott the beauty giant.

Despite these assertions, Sephora clarified that it did not donate 'thousands of dollars' to the president-elect's team.

The rumors gained traction through a TikTok video by user @karressmarie4, claiming Sephora made 'big big big donations' to Trump.

This video alone amassed 1.9 million views and was shared 528,000 times, sparking a significant backlash against Sephora among Gen Z consumers. Many expressed their outrage and pledged to switch their loyalty to other retailers like Ulta, citing the alleged donations as a betrayal of Sephora's predominantly female customer base.

A Sephora spokesperson stated, "It has come to our attention that there is incorrect information circulating on social media regarding company donations.

Sephora does not make corporate donations to political candidates. Sephora's mission is to create a welcoming beauty shopping experience for all." This statement aims to dispel the falsehoods and reinforce the brand's commitment to inclusivity.

Despite the initial backlash, some consumers remained skeptical. @karressmarie4 later commented to Newsweek regarding her investigative process into the supposed donations, admitting a potential error in her assumptions about Sephora's political contributions. However, she continued to criticize the company for its pricing and wage policies.

The controversy underscores the broader tensions within the beauty industry, where brand loyalties can quickly shift based on perceived corporate values.

Sephora remains a popular destination for exclusive beauty products, including Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and Lady Gaga's Haus Labs.

The brand recently saw significant turnout for a store opening in the UK, demonstrating its continued appeal despite the online turmoil.
